Lama Tashi Namgyal
Dear Dharma Friends,

If while you are all watching the pictures of this terrible tragedy on television, you will visualize the players, participants, and victims of these terrible scenes, from the President and the responsible members of the governments of the world to the representatives of the communications and business sectors of the world to the people and victims in the skies and in the streets, as Chenrezig and recite the mantra of great compassion Om Mani Padme Hum (Om Mani Peme Hung), and if you will imagine that all other sentient beings, visualized as Chenrezig, are doing the same and also reciting the mantra, because of the interpenetration of all minds and the great affection and compassion inherent in the minds of all beings, we can, both individually and as an international community of dharma practitioners, positively condition the unfolding of these painful events and the mental confusion and sorrow that accompanies them. If we practice another yidam, perform the same visualizations, and recite their mantras - whatever yidam it is, whether peaceful or wrathful, Arya Tara, Vajrayogini, Mahakala, Vajrasattva, Kalachakra, Guru Rinpoche, Karmapakshi, Medicine Buddha, Hayagriva, Dorje Trolloe, Vajrakilaya, or Senge Dongchen - with affection and compassion in our hearts for all members of the human community, and with the recognition of the illusory nature of all these events, it will also be of immense benefit to the entire world-wide family of sentient beings.

"The true nature of beings is always buddha. Not realizing that, they wander in endless samsara. For the boundless suffering of sentient beings May unbearable compassion be conceived in our being.
When the energy of unbearable compassion is unceasing, In expressions of loving kindness, the truth of its essential emptiness is nakedly clear. This unity is the supreme unerring path. Inseparable from it, may we meditate day and night." Rangjung Dorje, The Third Gyalwang Karmapa

With sincere wishes for the spread of loving kindness, compassion, and peace throughout the human community,

Lama Tashi Namgyal
